Theadora “Teddie” (nee Loranty) Jablonski Wheeler Gorsey, 98, died peacefully on July 5, 2021, at a nursing home in Roanoke VA. Born on a dairy farm in Bethany, New York, on September 28, 1922, she was a daughter of Polish immigrants, the late John Loranty and Marianna Wawrzenczak Loranty.
Teddie and her first husband, Chester J. Jablonski, owned and operated a dairy in Perry, NY, and later a Carvel ice cream store in Buffalo, NY. After Chester’s death in 1978, she met and married Stanley Wheeler of Schenectady, NY, and retired with him to Florida. When Stanley died in 1994, she moved to Virginia to be near family and met and married Charles Gorsey of Reston, who died in 2010. Teddie was beautiful, artistic, and devoted to her family, and she enjoyed her retirement by traveling, gardening, painting, and quilting.
Teddie is also predeceased by her sister, Ida Kowalcik, and six brothers, Joseph, Thaddeus, Chester, Stanley, Charles, and Edward Loranty. She is survived by her brother Jerome (Margaret) Loranty, her son Chester T. Jablonski and daughter Joanne (John) Leary; four granddaughters, Kaeli (Scott) Spencer, Kathleen McKenzie, Thea (Ryan) McCarthy, and Tessa (Jake) Hershman; six great grandchildren, Bethany and Rebecca Spencer; Kenny, Mckenzie, and Elysia Barnes; and Fiona McCarthy; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be said Friday, July 23, 2021, at 10 am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Alden, New York. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
