Thelma Florine Wood

Thelma Florine Wood, 98, of Bedford, died Sunday, July 24, 2011 at Oakwood Manor Nursing Home. Born Saturday, April 7, 1913 in Bedford, VA, she was the daughter of the late Ernest B. Wood and Mary Willie Key Wood.In addition to her parents she was proceeded in death by three brothers, Douglas Wood, Ralph Loyd Wood, and Carol Key Wood; one nephew, Gary Wood. Thelma loved gardening, sewing, quilting, and crocheting. She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church Women\"™s Society and she taught Sunday school there for many years.Thelma is survived by four nephews, Larry Wood and wife Anna, Andy Wood and wife Jorae, Greg Wood, and Barry Wood and wife Susan; two nieces, Sandy Farquhar and husband Scott, Donna Young; a niece-in-law, Susan Wood; and numerous great nieces, nephews and friends.Those wishing to make memorials are asked to consider Salem United Methodist Church Building Fund, 1722 Broadway Street, Bedford, Virginia 24523 C/O Bonnie Dagenhart.A service in remembrance of Thelma\"™s life will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at Salem United Methodist Church, Bedford, with Pastor Jack Davis officiating.
