Thelma Nadine Bill, 90, of Lynchburg departed this life on December 21, 2015 at her residence. She was the loving wife of the late George Leo Bill.
Thelma was born on October 7, 1925 in St. Louis, MO., the daughter of the late Lloyd Wesley Munkres and Wylia Amelia Munkres. Thelma is survived by two sons, Lloyd and wife Patricia, of Gettysburg, PA, and son Scott Bill and fiancé Ellie, of Hollywood, MD, and a daughter, Wylia Holbrooks and husband Michael, of Brookneal; eight grandchildren, Ryan Bill, Garrett Bill (Brittany), Ian Bill (Reannda), Alexandra Laigle (Matthew), Tyler Holbrooks (Amanda), Adam Holbrooks (Kristin), Bryan Holbrooks, and Michaela Holbrooks; three great grandchildren, Milo Laigle, Lena Holbrooks and Weston Holbrooks.
Thelma was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church. She grew up attending catholic school and graduated from a catholic university – Fontbonne University.
Thelma is remembered by her family as a loving mother, Grams, and great grandmother. She loved to play bridge. Every Tuesday she played with the Fairview Bridge Club and every Wednesday she played with the Fort Hill Woman’s Club. She was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi for over 50 years. Thelma also is remembered for volunteering for various organizations throughout her life and was a world traveler.
A Mass of Resurrection will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. today, Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, with Monsignor J. Kenneth Rush officiating. A private family scattering of the ashes will be held at the Old City Cemetery.
