Our beloved Theodore Roosevelt Hunt left this eternal world on October 26, 2016. He was called “Roo” by his loving wife of 33 years, Ethel Mae Calloway Hunt, and his family and friends.

Born on February 23, 1937, on Boxwood Farm Road in Amherst, Va., he was a son to the late Mr. & Mrs. John Randolph and Julia Tolliver Hunt. In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by five brothers, Velton, Melvin, Orpheus, George and William Hunt; and three sisters, Rosabell Shelton, Mattie Turner and Angus Payne.

Roosevelt was an active member of Scott Zion Baptist Church in Madison Heights, Va. until his health failed. He was very dedicated to The Male Chorus. He retired from the Lynchburg Foundry Lower Basin after thirty-four years. He was active with the foundry bowling team, and enjoyed all sports, even playing baseball in his younger days. He also loved fishing, especially deep sea fishing. Above all, Roosevelt was a devoted husband and family man.

He leaves to mourn along with his wife four children, Wanda Hunt and Barry Hunt, both of Madison Heights, Va., Theodore Hunt and his wife, Tracy, and Yolanda Hunt, all of Lynchburg, Va.; his stepson, Courtney Dayne and his wife, Lillian of Madison Heights, Va.; his stepdaughter, Dorothy (Cookie) Dayne and her husband, Ronald of Richmond, Va.; twenty great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, one step-great-grand son, three sisters, Helen Woods of Amherst, Va., Dorothy Smith of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Julia Hunt of Arona, Ill.; four sisters-in-law, Velma Hunt of Amherst, Va., Barbara Canada and her husband, Warren of Madison Heights, Va., Shirley Jones and her husband, John, and Elaine Saunders, all of Lynchburg, Va.; four brothers-in-law, Luther Saunders and his wife, Patricia, Robert Saunders and his wife, Evelyn, Thomas Saunders and his wife, Venda, all of Lynchburg, Va., and Stanley Saunders and his wife, Nina of North Carolina; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

A memorial service will take place at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 1, 2016, at Scott Zion Baptist Church, 2579 Galts Mill Road, Madison Heights, VA, with Rev. Gary Lee officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Following the service, there will be a fellowship dinner held in the fellowship hall of the church.
