Thomas Allen Wiley of Smith Mountain Lake passed away on October 13, 2013, at Roanoke Carilion Hospital. Though he had a long struggle with cancer, Tom\"™s end was peaceful. Tom\"™s loving friends and family will miss him deeply, but will keep him in our hearts.
Tom was a native Virginian and a proud Hokie. Born in Fincastle on July 29, 1938, Tom was raised by his parents Thomas and Gladys Wiley in Roanoke. Tom graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute in 1960 and remained a loyal alumnus. A respected and much admired executive, he retired as Vice-President of Elk Corporation.
Tom\"™s retirement was happily spent traveling with his family and playing golf, boating, and enjoying life with his friends at Smith Mountain Lake. Many will remember the sight of Tom\"™s grin and wave as he piloted his boat around the lake and his commentary on their golf swings from his porch overlooking the Seventh Fairway.
Tom\"™s recent life was greatly enriched by membership in Trinity Ecumenical Parish, where he developed a profound sense of belonging and a deep respect and fondness for Pastors Philip and Gary.
Tom is survived by his children Sarah, Mark, and Joye Wiley, his grand-daughter Amelia, his brother and sister-in-law David and Tammy Wiley, their children Jonathan and Emily, Sarah\"™s husband Drew, Tom\"™s dear friend Pat, many loved members of the extended Wiley family and his beloved cat, Sammy.
We miss you so much already Dad, Grandad, Tom.
