Thomas Edward Jennings, 83, of Lynchburg, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 23, 2014. Born July 31, 1930 in Lynchburg; he was a son of the late Sydney Jennings and Maude Davidson Jennings.
Thomas proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of West Lynchburg Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and taught Sunday school.
In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by brothers, S.M. Jennings, James E. Jennings; and a sister, Christine Clark. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Bettie V. Jennings; sons, Danny T. and Robin Jennings, and Michael L. Jennings; grandsons, Joshua Jennings and Joseph Jennings; sister, Kathleen Shefield; brothers, John S. Jennings, William C. Jennings; many nieces and nephews; special extended family; James T. and Maggie Holt, Travis and Jenna Holt, Jonathan and Elizabeth Holt, and Tristan and Tessa Holt.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 PM, Thursday, June 26, 2014 at Tharp Funeral Chapel with Dr. Robert Putt and Rev. James D. Newman officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 25, 2014 from 7 to 8:30 PM at Tharp Funeral Home and other times at the home.
