Thomas Eugene Evans, Sr.

Thomas Eugene Evans, Sr., 85, of Bedford, passed away on Sunday, May 27, 2012 at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was born in Galax, VA on April 3, 1927. A son of the late William D. Evans and Beulah Wilkes Evans. In addition to his parents Thomas was preceded in death by three brothers, William Evans, James Evans and Don Evans; one sister, Mildred Lee; and one grandson, Tyler Holbrook.

Thomas served our country in the United States Navy during WWII. He loved animals, classic country music, and watching western movies. Most of all he loved his children and grandchildren.

Thomas is survived by a son, Thomas \"Tom\" E. Evans, Jr. and his wife, Norma of Thaxton; four daughters, Sandra Prossor and her husband, Michael of Roanoke, Amy J. Holbrook and her husband, Preston of Bedford, Carolyn Lloyd and her husband, Chuck of Vinton and Teresa Evans of Bedford; Eight Grandsons; Three Granddaughters; Eleven Great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Preston and her husband, Posey of Vinton and a first cousin, Eleanor Lee of Roanoke; also numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Thomas\"™s life will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at Tharp Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem.
