Thomas James Carter

February 6, 1954 — February 4, 2022

Thomas James Carter III, known by his friends as, “TJ”, passed from this Earth on Friday February 4, 2022. He is lovingly survived by two brothers; Robert Carter of Lynchburg, and Howard Reksten (Diane) of Patchogue, New York, three sisters; Marilyn Carter and Jean Logwood (Morris) of Altavista, Virginia, and Jeanette Farmer (Leslie) of North Carolina, aunt; Geraldine Robertson (Bill), aunt; Pat Singleton, all of Lynchburg, Virginia, and Suzanne Reksten; sister-in-law of Orlando, Florida. He was predeceased by his brother Oscar Reksten of Orlando, Florida, and by his parents; Thomas James Carter, Jr., and Helen Gordon Carter.

TJ was born on February 6, 1954 in Lynchburg, Virginia. He was employed by Marvin Templeton Asphalt Company for many years. He loved to go to the Hunt Club in Craig County and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a wonderful storyteller. His laughter and humor will be missed by all who knew him. He loved people, and especially loved playing jokes and picking on his friends. He was happiest when he could go truck riding and taking vegetables from his farm to neighbors and friends. Every year at Christmas he made his, “Poinsettia Run”, delivering flowers to all the special women in his life. TJ had so many special friends there are too many to mention. He was always bigger than life, and had a heart of gold. He will be missed greatly by family and friends. His greatest ally and friend was his brother Doug, who has been by his side throughout his health issues.

Please direct any memorial donations to St. Jude’s Place…”The little people”, as he would refer to them.
