Thomas Alex Read Jr.

Thomas Alex Read, Jr, 55, departed this life on Thursday, November 9, 2023 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.

Affectionately known as Pete by family and friends, Thomas was born October 16, 1968 to the late Thomas A, Read, Sr. and Evelyn Poinderter Read. He was educated in the Bedford County School System where he graduated from Jefferson Forest High School in 1987.  He was a member of the Forest Level Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Sharon Read Strange.

In addition to his mother, Thomas leaves to cherish his memory a nephew; Charlie Strange IV (Bethany); a great nephew, Carter T Strange; Aunt Shirley Jefferson, who was like a second mother; cousin David A. Jefferson, Jr, who was like a brother; devoted cousins, Doris R. Austin, Annie B. Casey and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family would like to thank the staff members of UVA Health Dialysis, Lynchburg, for 22 years of services and the Cardiovascular Center.

At his request, there will be no services.

Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
