Thomas Wayne Mason

Thomas \"Wayne\" Mason, Sr. 63, of Forest died Saturday April 20, 2013. He was the husband of Barbara Williams Mason.

Wayne was born March 3, 1950 in Lynchburg a son of the late Thomas Burton Mason and Shirley Garth Mason. Thomas honorably served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was the owner of Mason Construction where he built homes for 36 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, enjoyed golfing, and was a devoted Virginia Tech sports fan.

In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter Michele L. Mason, a son Thomas Mason, Jr. and wife Kelly, all of Forest, mother-in-law Olivette C. Williams of Lynchburg, his grandchildren: Olivia A. Mason, Camden T. Mason, Hannah L. Mason, and McKenna J. Mason, his sisters: Lynne M. Hill and husband Mike of Lynchburg, Jeanne M. Behne and husband Bill of Knoxville, TN, brothers-in-law: Bruce Hadley and wife Jody of Mississippi, Craig Williams and wife Rita of Florida, nieces and nephews: Stacey H. Wilkes, Heather L. Hill, Courtney H. Mitchell and husband Jimmy, Tonia B. Ward and husband Cody, Garth Behne, Derek Behne and wife Angel, Jason N. Hadley and wife Debra, Nathan N. Hadley, and twelve much loved great nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday April 23, 2013 at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg.

A Celebration of Wayne\"™s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday April 24, 2013 at Timberlake United Methodist Church with the Rev. C. Douglas Pillow officiating. A reception will follow the service at the church. Wayne would want everyone to be comfortable, so please dress casual. If you also have Virginia Tech sports clothing, please wear it.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Campbell County Rescue Squad or the Forest Volunteer Fire Department.
