Thurmond "Stick" Ellis

Thurmond "Stick" Ellis, 90 of Madison Heights, VA entered into eternal rest June 9, 2025, peacefully at his home. He was born July 18,1934 in Amherst County, VA, to the late John Ellis and Minnie Johnson Wilson.

He is preceded in death by his two sons, Calvin "Steve" Ellis and Willie Ellis.

He accepted Christ at an early age. He enjoyed fishing, watching baseball, playing cards, and spending time with his family. He attended Amherst County Public school and served in the Army during the cold war. Thurmond enjoyed working with his hands where he later retired as a brick mason after 50 plus years.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories, his wife of 68 years Edna Ellis; two daughters, Patricia Franklin (Numan) of Lynchburg, VA and Angela Richerson (Antonio) of Madison Heights, VA; grandchildren, Tiffany Robinson (Ronald), Amie Dortch (Brian), Nina Franklin(Tayari), Troy Beasley, Raven Rose(Kendrick), Twana Franklin, Antonio "AJ" Richerson Jr., Calvin "CJ" Ellis Jr.; eighteen great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and many loving friends.

A service will be held at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg on Friday, June 13, 2025 at 1 pm with a visitation one hour prior. Interment will follow at Rose Chapel Cemetery. Mr. Ellis will lie in repose Thursday, June 12, 2025 from 9am - 5 pm at the Tharp Funeral Home, Madison Heights.
