Tommie Randall Farthing, 73, of Forest, went home to be with the Lord on January 8, 2016 and to wait for his wife of 55 years, Cary Milstead Farthing, to join him.
Tommie was born April 10, 1942 in Altavista, Va. He was predeceased by his parents, Jacob M. Farthing and Carola Brown Farthing, of Altavista, Va.
Tommie served his country from 1961 to 1964 with the Military Police. He also worked for the Lynchburg Police Department before retiring as plant manager from Tri-Tech Labs (formerly Chapstick Co.) Tommie made many friends during his time with the company.
Tommie will be greatly missed by his loving wife; son, Lowry Randall Farthing; granddaughter, Cari Elisa Bean; two great-grandchildren, Erin Marie Bean and Tommie Randall Farthing Bean; one uncle, Jimmie B. Brown, of Altavista; three aunts, Virginia Brown East, of Lynchburg; Jeanette Brown Harris, of Vinton; Corabelle Davis Brown, of Altavista; former daughter-in-law, Anna Farthing Bean and her husband, James Bean, both of Cumming, Ga.
Everyone that knew Tommie found him to be a special man with a big heart.
A memorial service will be held to honor Tommie’s life at a later date.
