Tommy Carlisle Wilkerson

January 27, 1929 — June 25, 2014

Tommy Carlisle Wilkerson, 85, of Lynchburg passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2014.  He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Elizabeth Jordan Wilkerson.

 

Born January 27, 1929 in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Ernest Drewry Wilkerson and the late Ethel Odell Driskill Wilkerson.

 

He was predeceased by a son, Daniel Drewry Wilkerson.

 

Tommy was a member of Timberlake United Methodist Church, Quality Assurance Manager for the Lynchburg Foundry for 42 years, served our Country in the U. S. Marines during the Korean Conflict and a member of the American Legion Post #16.

 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Thomas Scott Wilkerson and wife, Cynthia of Lynchburg, a granddaughter, Carrie Beth Wilkerson of Dinwiddie; a nephew, Stanley Arthur of Sunderland, MD, a niece, Julia Jordan Lohman of Lynchburg; a devoted brother-in-law, Beverly Lee Jordan and wife Nancy of Lynchburg; and his many friends at the Lynchburg Foundry, Jamerson Y, and his neighbors.

 

Tommy was devoted to not only rescuing cats, but making sure they were cared for and found their forever homes. He was passionate about making sure all were spayed and neutered, and fostered to become great pets. He will be greatly missed by his four cats.

 

A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00AM on Monday, June 30, 2014, at Fort Hill Memorial Park with the Reverend Lynn Alley-Grant.

 

The family will receive friends at Tharp Funeral Home on Sunday, June 29, 2014 from 2-4 p.m.

 

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Lynchburg Humane Society: 3305 Naval Reserve St, Lynchburg, VA 24501 or the American Heart Association: 4217 Park Place Court Glen Allen VA, 23060.
