Tommy Richard Thompson

Tommy Richard Thompson, a faithful servant of Jesus Christ passed peacefully at 2:44pm Monday, February 17, 2025, while surrounded by his family at the age of 94. He was born on December 4,1930, in Forest city, Iowa. Tommy was the beloved son of the late Paul Foster Thompson and Stella Ann Thompson. He is preceded in death by three sisters Carol, Gale and Janelle and two brothers Robert and Don as well as his first wife of six years Rebecca F Phillips Thompson and second wife of 44 years, Sandra Jean Budd Thompson and his daughter Lisa Ann Johnson (Kevin). 

Tommy graduated from Forest City High School with a class of 40 in 1948. He went on to serve as a Radio man in the Navy during the Korean Conflict in 1950. He served honorably for four years.

 In 1950, At the age of 20, Tommy got saved while serving in the navy under the ministry of Mildred Brostect. From that time forward his whole life had been devoted to sharing the gospel to all the world which included returning to Hawaii to minister in the church as well as faithfully preaching on the streets whenever he could. He made14 trips to India which included stops in Egypt, Israel, Singapore, Puerto Rico, Hong Kong, Thailand and Columbia where he shared Jesus on the streets with tracks and preaching the gospel. Many folks became friends and disciples of Jesus. He was never without his King James Bible and loved to read it continuously. 

Tommy had a very passionate heart for defending Jesus’s Truth to all those he encountered. He left this world without material wealth but riches in relationships both earthly and heavenly. “He is no fool who gives up what he cannot keep, to gain what he cannot lose. “ He also enjoyed joking around and telling great stories of his childhood and past travels. 

Tommy was a loving and caring Father and Grandfather. He is survived by his sons Glenn Thompson (Drenda), Richard Thompson(Mei), Daughter Ann Thompson Moore (Rodney) and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
