Traquan Maleque Dudley of Madison Heights, Virginia, departed this life on February 27, 2016, after an epic and heroic battle with leukemia. He was 18 years old.
Traquan was born on September 16, 1997, the son of Michelle Wright, Timothy Dudley, and Lorecco Thomas. A senior at Amherst County High School, Traquan had completed all coursework and testing requirements while undergoing treatment and was set to receive his high school diploma in May of 2016. During his academic career, Traquan made a name for himself in sports. He loved sports. His favorite sport was football. While Traquan’s favorite professional football team was the Giants, he didn’t really like to watch football, he loved to play football. Before becoming ill, Traquan played for the Amherst County High School Lancers… and he was good! He also enjoyed playing basketball in school and with his brothers and cousins.
Traquan had two other passions, cooking and pit bulls. He liked to create his own original recipes. A family favorite was a burger stuffed with cheese with a breaded chicken patty on toasted white bread. And yes, it was difficult to finish! His other passion was pit bulls. He enjoyed playing with and training his dog Coa Coa. Traquan once told his mother that pit bulls aren’t bad dogs, they just have bad reps and people don’t understand them.
He has gone to take care of his beloved Coa Coa, who preceded him in death, and together they rest in the loving arms of the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. In addition to his parents, Traquan is survived by eleven siblings. He leaves to mourn him seven sisters: Tateana, Patience, Destiny, La’Dasia, La’Asia, Heaven and Jessalyn; four brothers: Taij, Juwuan, Zacchaeus and Telik; grandparents: Emmett Durrette, Carolyn Dudley and Thommisean Thomas; and great-grandparents Shirley Dudley and Minnie Edo. He is also survived by a host of adoring aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Traquan was loved by so many people and he will be greatly missed. He touched so many lives with his tenderness and charming personality. He was humble, loyal and strong. Those who knew him and were loved by him were well and truly blessed.
Services for Traquan will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at 3 p.m. at Scott Zion Baptist Church in Madison Heights, Virginia. Burial will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at 5 p.m. at Covesville First Baptist Church in Covesville, Virginia, with the Rev. Russell G. Lee, Eulogist, and the Rev. Kelvin Brown officiating.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all family friends, supporters, the Amherst County Community, and a special thanks to the nursing staff and doctors at UVA Hospital for the love and care in his final days.
MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
