Valerie Thomas Millner

Valerie Thomas Millner, 56 of Forest died Thursday July 21, 2011 at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was preceded in death by her brother Macon Randolph Thomas, and parents John E. Thomas Jr. and Charlotte Kidd Thomas.

She was born December 9, 1954 in Lynchburg, VA, graduated from Brookville High School, attended the University of Virginia and received her bachelor\"™s degree from Lynchburg College. As a result of her illness she recently retired from Frank Chervan Furniture Inc.

Valerie was a member of Timberlake United Methodist Church and is survived by her husband Gregory Millner and sons Graham Millner and Jared Millner also of Forest. Other survivors include brothers, F. Edward Thomas (Susan) of High Point, NC, John E. Thomas III of Evington, VA, and very special friend Sharon Thomas of Evington VA. Valerie is also survived by a very special Aunt, Shirley Goodwin of Gloucester, VA and nieces, Elizabeth Stevens (Ian, Major USMC) and Tina Miles; nephews, John E. Thomas IV (Amy) and Jeremy Thomas (Karen) and many great nieces and nephews.

A memorial service conducted by Rev. Paul Gillespie and Rev. Willie Butler will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 30, 2011 at Timberlake United Methodist Church. A reception will be held immediately after the service in the church\"™s Family Life Center and at other times the family will receive friends at their residence.

Since Valerie was a great \"baseball mom\" the family requests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions are made to Lynchburg College Baseball, 1501 Lakeside Drive, Lynchburg, VA 24501.
