Vera K. Suit, 85, of Forest, passed away suddenly on Thursday, April 05, 2018. She was the wife of the late Ross Frisbee Suit, Jr., to whom she was married for 20 short years.
Vera was born on October 01, 1932 in Garfield, New Jersey and was the youngest child of the late Kondrat Kardash and Evelyn Senio Kardash.
In addition to her husband and parents, Vera was preceded in death by her eldest sister Eleanor K. Ball, of Lynchburg, and brother Con Kardash, of Warrington, PA and Hallandale Beach, FL.
Vera is survived by her children Ross K. Suit, of Richmond, VA, and Tamara S. Goodman and her husband, Scott, of Goode, her dear sister Jeanne K. Ament, of Oradell, NJ, her sister-in-law Lois Kardash, of Warrington, PA and Hallandale Beach, FL, her brother-in-law David W. Suit, of Auburndale, FL, as well as her close nieces, nephews and their families in Minnesota, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Virginia.
Vera was a nurturing mother and loving wife who was a free spirit, full of life with a passion for outdoor sports including swimming, tennis, snow skiing, hiking, and ice skating. In her later years she joined the local members of the Virginia Masters Swim Team and swam competitively for over two decades with long term teammates who she considered part of her family. Vera was also involved for many years in the Lynchburg Dog Owners’ Training Club, where she obedience trained Wire Hair Fox Terriers for competition throughout the Mid Atlantic. In addition to her passion of sports, she loved the natural beauty of this area, especially the Blue Ridge Mountains where she hiked with the Appalachian Trail Club upon moving to Virginia in 1954.
Rejoice and do not be sad, Vera lived a long and active life full of wonderful memories!
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg. A celebration of Vera’s life will follow at 5:00 PM.
