Vera Loretta Cunningham

June 8, 1956 — December 23, 2020

Vera Loretta Cunningham passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at her residence. She is preceded in death by her parents, George Allen Cunningham and Pearl Witcher Cunningham. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Virginia Mae Cunningham; two brothers, Leonard Cunningham Sr., and Clarence “Jack” Cunningham.

Vera is survived by her three children, April Tabb Vest (Raymond), Clyde Tabb Jr. and Travis Tabb; two grandchildren, Christian Smith, Cameron Smith, special friend; Clyde Tabb Sr.; two brothers, Otis Cunningham (Carol), Haywood Cunningham; one sister: Bernice Clark (William), and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Vera obtained a Masters Degree in Instructional Design from University of Arizona Global in 2014. She was proud to be the first African American Woman on the Altavista Rescue Squad. Earlier in her career she worked privately and publicly in the medical profession. She enjoyed making jewelry, and spending time with her family. She had a big heart and put those she cared about before herself.

Vera will lie in repose Wednesday, December 30, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg Chapel. Due to Covid 19 the graveside service will be private.

Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
