Vernon Douglas Kirby

Vernon Douglas Kirby, 89, of Lynchburg, passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2024. Born June 28, 1935, in Campbell County VA, he was the son of the late Harry Douglas Kirby and the late Mildred Tanner Kirby. 

He is preceded in death by his loving wife Shirley Odell Kirby. He is survived by his daughter Jacqueline Kirby Tait her husband Ed and their children Alyssa, Ashlyn and Addison and his son Vernon Douglas Kirby Jr. and his wife Tammy; siblings Shirley Owen, Gaile Eubank and her husband Barry; step children Beth Odell Moore, Scott Andrew Odell and eight step- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister Ellie Kirby and step- son John Browning Odell. 

Doug was an active member of Timberlake United Methodist Church in Lynchburg. He was deeply loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed. 

The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Saturday, December 14th at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg.
