Vickie Lynn Zimmerman

Vickie Lynn Zimmerman, 60, of Union Hall, Virginia passed away on August 9, 2024. She was the daughter of Mabel and Jimmy Zimmerman of Bedford, Virginia. Vickie graduated from Liberty High School in 1982 and went on to graduate from Roanoke College in 1986. She later attended the College of Health Sciences in Roanoke and obtained a degree as a Physical Therapy Assistant. Vickie then completed additional coursework from the International School of Shiatsu. Being self-employed, she treated clients individually, and conducted exercise classes and personal training at Water’s Edge Country Club. 

Vickie was named to Liberty High School’s, as well as Roanoke College’s Sports Hall of Fame in basketball. She was named to the All ODAC (Old Dominion Athletic Conference) team three times, and in 1985, was the ODAC player of the year. She was also named to the Kodak Division III American Team, Southern Division, as well as Small College All American.

Vickie is survived by her parents, Jimmy and Mabel Zimmerman of Bedford, her sister Debra Bond (Bubba), her niece Kasey Balderson (Carrington) who shared her love of the ocean and was a devoted Duke fan as well, and her nephews Jay Bond (Paige) and Tyler Bond. 

We would like to express a special thanks to her wonderful friends, Joe and Vicki Millihan, and the many clients she treated over the years. Vickie was a lover of animals and left behind four cats and her dog “Jazzie”. Memorials can be made to your favorite charity or local Humane Society. It was Vickie’s wish for there to be no services.
