Vincent Otto Ostermeier, 79, passed away at home on September 10, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 20, 1941, in New York City, the son of Sebastion Otto and Gertrude (Abrahamson) Ostermeier.
After attending Martin Van Buren High School in Queens, Vinnie served with the U.S. Army. He married his best friend and high school sweetheart, Marjorie Dileo, on July 3, 1960. They were inseparable for over 61 years, working and enjoying life together. Vinnie enjoyed playing cards with friends, dominoes with family, swimming, hunting, snowmobiling, boating, gardening, the Christmas season, time at the beach, reading, and watching Fox News.
In addition to his parents, Vinnie was predeceased by two grandchildren, Gage and Megan. Surviving in addition to his wife, Marjorie, are his four daughters, Diana Bennett of Niskayuna, NY; Kimberly Brooks (Alan) of North Augusta, SC; Kelly Larkin (Bill) of Getzville, NY; and Teri Seilhan (Jack Craddock) of Lynchburg, VA; grandchildren Kristin Salzer (Randy), Kevin Contino (Allie), Richard Rockwell (Nicole), Thomas Contino, Nathan Contino, Jie Jie Bennett, Leah Seilhan, Nicholas Seilhan, and Lance Seilhan; and great-grandchildren Henry and Caroline Salzer. Vinnie is also survived by many good friends, and his cat Purrcy, who had trained Vinnie well to cater to his every demand.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Centra Regional Cancer Center and Centra Hospice, especially Rebecca, Sissy, and Chester.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (themmrf.org). Those who wish to remember Vinnie in a special way should enjoy a rum and Coke while remembering special times with him through the years.
