Virginia Cyrus Radford

May 13, 1938 — November 4, 2014

Virginia Cyrus Radford, 76, of Forest died on Tuesday, November 4, 2014. She was the widow of Charles Aaron Radford, her husband of more than fifty years.

Born in Campbell Country, she was the daughter of the late Samuel M. and Elizabeth Moore Cyrus. She was a graduate of Rustburg High School, and she was also a longtime employee of General Electric and a member of Forest Presbyterian Church.

Deeply devoted to family, Ginny and Chuck hosted many memorable family gatherings at their home, particularly Thanksgiving dinners where, at times, they almost miraculously found a seat for everyone. They were present at all family events, and provided unwavering support in difficult times. They are missed and lovingly remembered.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers: Calub Cyrus, Laney Cyrus, and Edward Cyrus; and her sisters: Annie Cyrus Brazier, Margaret Cyrus Quinn, and Mary Cyrus Ehnot.

Ginny is survived by her son, Charles Edward Radford and his wife, Pat of Aiken, SC; two grandsons: Lt. J.G. Christopher Eric Radford and his wife, Kathleen of Arlington, and Lt. J.G. Andrew Charles Radford of Norfolk; a brother, Willie Burton Cyrus and his wife, Virginia, of Gladstone; a brother-in-law, John Ehnot of Oaks, PA; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Ginny’s Life will be held at Forest Presbyterian Church at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2014, with Rev. Morgan Whitfield officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Forest Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 311, Forest, VA 24551.
