Vivian Hailey Barden

Vivian \"Billie\" Hailey Barden, 93, of Lynchburg died Monday May 6, 2013. She was the loving wife of John William Barden, Sr.

Billie was born September 26, 1919 in Victoria, Va. a daughter of the late Robert Hailey and Dora Mae Dalton Hailey. She was a twin and one of seven siblings. Growing up on a farm fostered a love of gardening that carried through her entire life. She was never without plants to grow nor family with which to continue her wonderful nurturing spirit. Always the backbone of her family, she could teach you about the best way to grow award winning tomatoes, catch a crab or bait a fish hook and if you sat across from her at the bridge table, you had better know what you were doing. She was particularly proud of her eight great-grandchildren and embraced the technology world in order to stay current with their latest pictures and happenings. Billie was a steadfast member of her church, quickly becoming an active participant wherever a home move might take her. Most recently, having moved to Lynchburg, she became a member of Peakland Baptist Church.

She is survived by her son Robert Bradley Barden and his wife Penny of Lynchburg, a daughter-in-law Christine Barden of Montpelier, a son-in-law Allen Wester of Atlanta, GA, six grandchildren; Billie Jo Adsit and husband Jeffrey of Montpelier, David Barden and partner Blaize Adams of Richmond, Kathy Heiner of Charlottesville, Bo Heiner and his wife Julie of Atlanta, GA, Sarah Barden of Richmond, and Dr. Abbey Carrico and her husband Tommy of Tallahassee, FL, eight great-grandchildren; Bobbie Jo Adsit, Josie Adsit, Wiley Heiner, Sam Heiner, Sylvie Heiner, Max Foulk, Riley Foulk, and Vivian Carrico.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a son John W. Barden, Jr. and a daughter Sylvia Barden Heiner Wester.
