Vonda Lee Elder Miles, 87, of Rustburg, died Tuesday, July 17, 2018. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Frank “Buck” Miles, and by her daughter-in-law, Jane Miles.
Vonda was born November 15, 1930, in Rustburg, a daughter of the late Mary Louise Elder. Vonda was retired from the Central Virginia Training Center after 28 years as a certified nurse’s aide and was a member of the Lynchburg Seventh Day Adventist Church. Vonda enjoyed planting flowers, gardening, going to yard-sales, crafts, visiting friends, spending time with family, and attending church. Vonda loved her family dearly and lived her life for others. She followed Christ’s examples on how to serve others. Her desire for her family was for everyone to have a close relationship with our Lord and to be ready for His second coming. Praise God!
She is survived by her children, Galen, Larry, Glen and wife, Mary Ellen, and Anita and husband, Steve; grandchildren, Lee and wife, Nora, Karen and husband, Scott, Carrie and husband, Steve, Matthew and wife, Tara, Alexandra, and Grayson; great-grandchildren, Nathan, Luke, Jane and husband, Joe, Felicia, Kaleb and wife, Erica, Tyler, Alyssa, and Brody; sister-in-law, Margaret Mayberry; and special friend and caregivers sent by God, Delores Crawford and Ellen Tuck.
A Celebration of Vonda’s Life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, August 11, 2018, at Lynchburg Seventh-Day Adventist Church with Pastor Dale Long officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
The family wishes to Thank Dr. Peter Betz, Dr. Geeta Rakerheram, and the staff at the Carrington, and Senior Independence Hospice for their care for Vonda.
