Walker “Bookie” Mcdaniel

Walker \"Bookie\" McDaniel, 75, of Bedford, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Bedford Memorial Hospital. Born in Lynchburg on May 20, 1937, a son of the late Walker McDaniel and Eula Elizabeth Arthur McDaniel.

Bookie was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church in Bedford. He was also a former member of the Lions Club and a lifetime member of the Odd Fellows. He was a railroad car inspector with RF&P railroad in Richmond.

Bookie is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Betty Fridley McDaniel; two daughters, Gayle McDaniel Leslie of FL, and Sharon McDaniel Chassereau of Bedford; five grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to, Main Street United Methodist Church, 212 E. Main Street, Bedford, VA 24523. 

A Celebration of Bookie\"™s life will be conducted at 11 am on Friday, March 22, 2013 at Main Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Bart Weakley officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Tharp Funeral Home in Bedford. Arrangements by Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Bedford, (540)-586-3443.
