Walter “Jack” Calvin Wynn 72, of Lynchburg, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2024. He was the son of the late Calvin W. Wynn and Delia L. Wynn, and the husband of DeMonna Mack-Wynn.


He was born on March 5, 1951, in Canton, MS. He attended school at an American High School in Vicenza, Italy. Walter joined the United States Air Force and honorably served for four years. He went on to further his education at Jackson State University in Jackson, MS with a Bachelors in Education and Associates in early childhood education. He then pursued his career as a teacher at Friends of Children Head Start, in Canton, MS for over 22 years. He joined Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Parker in Canton, MS at an early age; he later joined Living Word Ministries in Lynchburg, VA under the leadership of Bishop James E. Camm, Jr.


In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Alexis Wynn Jones.


In addition to his wife, Walter is survived by his children, Jackie W. Alston (Angelio), Anthony Rimmer (Nancy), Antoine Rimmer, Angela Rimmer (Tegi), and Alajuan Rimmer (Nikkie); grandchildren, Casey O. Ware, Allison Sutton, Derrick Sutton Jr., Daniel Wynn, Gabriel Jones, Reginald Jones, Jamarion Rimmer, Tyjuan Rimmer, and Zriyah; great-grandchildren, Zakarian Williams, and Casey Ware Jr.; nieces, Olivia Bacote, Dorian Fairley, and Jessica Brewer; nephews, Ronald Bacote, Nicholas Bacote, Devin Gallaspy, Joshua Freeman, James Moore, Justin Moore, and Lorenzo Minter; siblings, Calvin Wynn (Shirley), David Wynn, Nena Branch (Nickie lee), Carolyn Wynn, Orpah Jones, and Bettye Freeman (Jimmy); one special aunt, Betty W. Robinson; and a host of other loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.


A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Living Word Ministries, 825 Taylor Street, Lynchburg, Va. 

Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
