Walter C. Blankenship, Jr. of Forest, 69, went to be with his Lord on April 24, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter C. and Jessie Grimmett Blankenship.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Violet Maddox Blankenship; brother, Herbert Blankenship of Poca, WV; mother-in-law, Mary Maddox; sister-in-law, Jewel (Mark) Newman; three brothers-in-law, Alfred Jr., Steve (Tammy), Bill (Linda) Maddox; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Walter and Violet enjoyed traveling the world, are the founders of Cavalier Tours of Lynchburg, and are celebrating 41 years of operation.
Family visitation will be held from 2 until 3 p.m. with a memorial service following from 3 until 4 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home, 220 Breezewood Drive, Lynchburg, Va. 24502 on Sunday, May 8th, 2016. The service will be conducted by Reverend Carlton Duck of Gethsemane Baptist Church, who baptized Walter.
