Walter Harold Flick of Lynchburg, and formerly of Roanoke, passed away at Westminster Canterbury on Tuesday, December 8, 2015. Walter was preceded in death by his wife Virginia Kiser Flick, his brother Lacy Flick, Jr., and his parents, Lacy and Lydia Flick.
He is survived by one daughter; Rebecca Flick Semones and her husband, William, two granddaughters; Michelle Semones and Camden Semones Goff and her husband, Michael, and one great-granddaughter; Lacey Goff.
Walter was born in Roanoke, Va. and graduated from Jefferson High School. He loved to talk about his days as a young man selling newspapers at the corner of Jefferson Street and Campbell Avenue. He went on to serve in the Navy during World War II. After the war, he attended the University of Chicago and Sacramento State University and then joined IBM and served in various management positions in Sacramento, Ca., Washington, DC, Bethlehem, Pa., Philadelphia, Pa., White Plains, N.Y., and Dallas, Tx. After nearly 40 years with IBM, he retired to Roanoke.
Walter loved music and was a magnificent pianist. He was still playing the piano at age 93 and had memorized numerous classical arrangements. Walter loved people and enjoyed being around them. He was a true southern gentleman.

The family will receive visitors from 11 to 12 noon in the Chapel at Westminster Canterbury on January 2, 2016. A memorial service will follow at 12 noon with Dr. Randal Walton officiating.
