Walton Clifton Stancil

Walton Clifton Stancil, 86, of Lynchburg, Virginia passed away on February 22, 2024. He was the son of the late Bathie G. Stancil and Rosa M. Parker Stancil. 

Walton was born on June 11, 1937, in Johnston County, North Carolina. After graduating high school, he moved to Chicago to attend Devry Technical Institute in 1955-1956 to study electronics.  He joined the U.S. Air Force in late 1956 and served until 1960. He traveled across the world and was able to continue his training in electronics. He came to Lynchburg, Virginia in 1961 to work for General Electric. He worked for GE/Ericsson for over 40 years.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara, daughter, Sherry Ware (Dwaine), and grandchildren, Sean Ware and Sydney Ware. 

He was a member of Rivermont Avenue Baptist Church for many years.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Tharp Funeral Home on Breezewood Drive. This will be followed by a service at 11 a.m. and graveside service to follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
