Our Heavenly Father called Warren Anthony Thomas of 1115 Polk Street, Lynchburg, VA, from labor to reward on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at his residence.
He was born on March 11, 1967 in Lynchburg to the late Wendell Travis Hubbard and Lorriane Marie Thomas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Willis Hubbard and Dorothy Bailey Hubbard Mullen, Ralph and Viola Thomas and a grandson, Braylen McIvor.
Warren accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and joined the Rising Sun Missionary Baptist Church. Currently, he is a member of Faith and Victory Church of Worship in Lynchburg, VA. Warren was educated in the Amherst County Public Schools. He was employed as a chef at Morrison Cafeteria and Piccadilly Restaurant until it closed. His passion was cooking and watching the Dallas Cowboys games. Warren affectionately known as “The Fishman” took great pride in being known as the best fish fryer in town.
Warren loved the Lord and his family. He would often testify; “no matter what I have to go thru in this life, I know God is with me every step I take.
Warren leaves to cherish his many fond memories a devoted wife, Wanda McCray Thomas, six sons, Antonio and Nathan Thomas both of NC, Jajuan Thomas of Amherst, VA, Cortez Mclvor (Emerald) of Lynchburg, VA, Sherard McCray (Mia) of Fort Bliss, TX, and Micah Childress, three daughters, Evangelia Thomas of Lynchburg, VA, Travina Cobbs (Jashaun) and Tamara McCray of Lynchburg, VA. Two brothers, Wilbert Thomas (Karen) of Rustburg, VA and Jerome Perkins (Anne) of Concord, VA, three sisters, Bernadine Davis (Arthur), Charlotte Hubbard and Yvonne White (Pastor Isaiah), all of Lynchburg, VA. Four uncles, Virgil Mullen (Karen), Dwain Mullen (Wanda) and Charles Mullen all of Aberdeen, MD, and William Thomas (Novella) of Madison Heights, VA. Three aunts, Natalie Jean (Lewis), Barbara Mullen, both of Aberdeen, MD and Viola Franklin (Melvin) of Madison Heights, VA, Mother in Law, Barbara McCray, father in law, James Jones (Jean) both of Lynchburg, step father in law, Steve Rucker, VA, one brother in law, Jerry Davis, three sisters in law, Elder Wendy Sandidge of Madison Heights, VA, Valerie Jones and Latonya Jones both of Lynchburg, VA, eleven grandchildren, Kh’mari, Kalhani, Khylee, Jorja, Jay’vheire McCray- Adams, JaVeiyah, A’mari, Sa’Breya, Kassidy and Christopher Jordan and Aniyah, Amiyah Thomas of North Carolina, and Ky’iere Cunningham of North Carolina, Cortez McIvor, Jr. of Lynchburg, VA. God brothers, Marlon Green (Virginia) of Fayetteville, NC, Jerome Dempsey, (Denise), Charles, Michael, and Carrington Brody, devoted childhood friend, William “Junebug” Jones, sixteen nephews, twelve nieces, and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
A celebration of life will be held Friday, December 16, 2022, at 11 A.M., at Rising Sun Missionary Baptist Church. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery.
