Warren Aulton Gardner, 90, of Lynchburg died Tuesday December 30, 2014. He was the devoted husband of Elizabeth Margaret Gardner.
Warren was born April 26, 1924 in Wadsworth, OH; a son of the late Heber Gardner and Hilda Long Gardner. Warren honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars and worked at B & W as a Senior Project Manager. Along with his wife, Warren was an avid golfer.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two brothers, James Gardner and wife, Shelly, of FL, and Jerry Gardner and wife, Mary, of OH; four sisters, Nina Shook and husband, Arnold, of OH, Margaret Trent and husband, Ted, of OH, Mary Lent and husband John, of NM, and Frances Papp of AZ; one brother-in-law, Fred Tippel and wife, Bonnie, of OH; and fifty-six nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, John and Elizabeth Tippel; two brothers, Robert Gardner and Charles Gardner; three brothers-in-law, John Tippel, Jr., Dick Warner, and Arnold Shook; one sister, Alice Warner; three sisters-in-law, Lois Gardner, Alice Gardner, and Helen Tippel Moore; and four nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday January 2, 2015, at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg.
Entombment will be held privately for the family at Virginia Memorial Park in Forest, VA.
