Warren Beers Melroy

Warren Beers Melroy, 87, of Forest, died Tuesday, January 10, 2012. Warren was born February 9, 1924 in Summit, New Jersey, a son of the late Karl David & Mary Beers Melroy. He is predeceased by his brothers, Karl Jr. William, and Fredrick, and his sister, Jane Ness.

 

Warren is survived by his loving wife, Claire, and children: Douglas (Debra) Melroy of Turnersville, NJ; Peter (Joan) Melroy of Chatham, NJ; and Susan Meyer of Lynchburg. He is also survived by his five grandchildren: Torey (Joe) Phillips, Chad H. (Nicole) Melroy, Sarah E. Melroy, David T. Melroy, and Amelia C. Meyer. Warren\"™s great-grandchildren survive him as well: Samantha and Natalie Phillips, and Chad Jr. Melroy. His brothers, Robert (Jean) Melroy and Ralph (Myrna) Melroy also survive him. Furthermore, Warren is survived by various nieces and nephews.

 

Warren was a World War II Veteran of the Army \"" he served in the South Pacific, and was employed by the Cadillac Division of GM as a manager in the Parts Division for 40 years.

 

Warren and Claire raised their family in Madison, NJ., where he was an active member and past president of the Volunteer Ambulance Corps and Scoutmaster of Troop 26 for many years. After retiring to SML in 1987, he was elected to the SML Board of Directors, and also volunteered as a lake water monitor.

 

He was an active member of Bethlehem UMC, past president of the Administrative Council, and served in numerous other capacities at the church. He also volunteered at Bedford Christian Ministries.

 

Warren enjoyed golfing with his buddies, gardening, and boating while living on the lake.

 

A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 13, 2012, at 2:00 PM at Bethlehem UMC in Moneta.
