Warren Charles Light died unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at Westminster Canterbury in Lynchburg, VA. He is survived by his wife Norma, his daughters Donna Jeanne Light, Barbara Light Hensley, granddaughter, Anne Jordan Saltz, and sister Marjorie Light Jones. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Priscilla Miller Light and his daughter Nancy Light Saltz. Norma\"™s daughters Lynne Hassel Wilson and Greta Louise Hassel share in his loss. He was born April 19, 1921, and grew up in Everett, MA. From 1943 to 1945 he served as a pilot in the US Navy. He graduated from Tufts University in 1949 with a BS degree in Electrical Engineering. His playing on the Tufts varsity team led to a lifetime love of football. Warren began his career with General Electric in Lynn, MA and subsequently moved to Lynchburg, VA, where he raised his family and worked for the remainder of his career. He performed in many roles at the Fine Arts Center, was a very active member of First Presbyterian Church and the Lynchburg and Westminster Canterbury communities. He also served as a volunteer missionary for two years for the Presbyterian Church of Taiwan. He was a man who loved life, his family, his church, and his country.
A Memorial service will be held Friday, February 10, 2012, 2:00 PM, at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. John Scholer officiating. A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall.
