Warren Franklin Eastman, Sr.

Warren Franklin Eastman, Sr., 92, passed away July 20, 2010, at Lynchburg General Hospital.  He was born in Richmond, VA, August 5, 1917, the third child of Thomas M. Eastman and Alma Woodall Eastman, both deceased.  Warren\"™s wife, Miriam Powell Eastman passed away August 21, 1995, in Lynchburg.  He was also predeceased by his first child, Jan Marie Eastman at 3 years of age.  He was also predeceased by all four of his brothers:  Thomas M. Eastman, Jr. and wife, Arlene; David K. Eastman and wife, Edna; Edward S. Eastman; and Earnest C. Eastman.

He is survived by three sons:  Warren F. (Frank)  Eastman, Jr. and wife, Lil of Dallas, TX; R. Paul Eastman and wife, Sue of Union City, CA; Thomas P. Eastman and wife, Susan, of Madison Heights, and one granddaughter, Bevin Eastman.  He is also survived by a sister, Harriett (Sue) Marshall of Spout Spring, VA, and two sisters-in-law, Vera Eastman and Mildred Eastman, and many nieces and nephews.

Warren was a World War II veteran with the 5th Army Headquarters under the command of General Mark Clark.  He went overseas to Morocco and North Africa in early 1943, advanced through Algeria and Tunisia on to Italy 1943-1945.  He was honorably discharged as a sergeant in late October, 1945.

He was retired from General Electric after 21 years as their purchasing agent/inventory control manager.

Warren was a member of the Barbershop Harmony Society (SPEBSQSA) and for many years was Treasurer of the Lynchburg Chapter.  As a result of his love of this music, his wife, Miriam was the Founder of the Lynchburg Chapter of Sweet Adelines International.  Warren attended several International competitions where he proudly watched his sons Frank and Paul earn medals with their choruses.

He will be greatly missed by family and friends.  A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 1, 2010, at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg, with the Rev. David Cash officiating, and military honors by the American Legion Post #16.  Visitation to follow service.  In lieu of flowers, please consider the D-Day Memorial, 816 Burks Hill Rd., Bedford, VA  24523.
