Warren Luther Campbell

October 3, 1921 — February 9, 2015

Warren Luther Campbell, 93, of Lynchburg, passed away on Monday, February 9, 2015. He was the loving husband of the late Dorothy Dixon Campbell.

Born in Lynchburg on October 3, 1921, Warren was a son of the late Floyd and Fannie Campbell. Warren proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. For most of his career, he worked as a private food broker supplying a large area of Virginia with quality products, specifically, coffee. He was a long-time member of Fort Hill United Methodist Church and also belonged to Hill City Masonic Lodge #183 for over fifty years.

In addition to his wife and parents, Warren was preceded in death by four sisters: Loraine Thompson, Maude Strickland, Marie Withers, and Odell Haas Ripley; a brother, Charles Rucker Campbell; a half-sister Myrtle Kelly; two half-brothers: Aubrey and Edward Campbell; and a special cousin Mavis White.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his three children: Ron, Joan and her husband, Walt, and David and his wife, Teresa; a brother, Rodney Campbell and wife, Madeline of Houston, Texas; and a very special friend and devoted caregiver, Carolyn Maness.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg today, Thursday, February 12, 2015. A celebration of Warren’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg on Friday, February 13, 2015, with the Rev. Elizabeth Ecklund and the Rev. Janet Hawkins officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park with Masonic Rites and Military Honors provided by American Legion Post #16.
