Wayne Lee Smith

Wayne Lee Smith, 61, of Altavista, died on Saturday, March 16, 2013. He was the husband of Donna Hamlett Smith. Wayne was born on March 12, 1952 in Bedford County, a son of Zena Overstreet Smith and the late George Edward Smith.

In addition to his wife and mother, Wayne is survived by three daughters; Emily Smith of Rustburg, Casey Smith and fiancé, Benjamin Neighbors and their daughter, Charleigh Rae Smith of Altavista, and Chelsea Smith of Rustburg; three brothers, Nathan Smith and wife, Jane of Bedford, Ronnie Smith and wife, Becky of Roanoke, and Roger Smith and wife, Vickie of Rocky Mount; three sisters, Lois Burroughs of Stafford, Ruby Dooley and husband, Timmy of Bedford and Joyce Witt and husband, Gary of Bedford; one sister-in-law, Barbara Smith of Richlands; and mother-in-law, Rachel Hamlett of Forest.

In addition to his father, Wayne was predeceased by one son, Wesley Brant Smith; one brother, Ray Smith and father-in-law, Edward P. Hamlett.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. tonight, March 18, 2013 at Clearview Baptist Church. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Clearview Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Wayne Greene officiating. Interment will follow in Cumbie Memorial Cemetery in Rustburg.
