Webster Delaney Carpenter, 89, of Amherst, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 3, 2025.
Born July 15, 1935, in Virginia, he was the son of the late Robert Carpenter, Sr. and Mary Carpenter.
In addition to his parents, Webster was preceded in death by his loving wife; Mary Lou Carpenter, five brothers; Emery Carpenter, Lorenzo Carpenter, Darnell Carpenter, Sterling Carpenter, Sr., and Robert Carpenter, Sr., six sisters; Vermont McCoy, Earsie Kyle, Dorothy Carpenter, Bernice Coleman, Jaqueline Jones, and Helen Long.
Webster was a proud and long-time employee of the Amherst County School System, where he dedicated over 20 years of service. Known for his quick wit and easygoing nature, he had a remarkable sense of humor that brought joy to those around him. He loved spending time outdoors and found peace and happiness in the simplicity of nature.
He will be remembered not only for his commitment to the community but also for the laughter and light he shared with friends and family. His presence made an impact, and his memory will continue to be a source of comfort and strength.
Webster is survived by his close friend and dedicated caregiver; Anita Cashwell, niece; Cynthia Pierce, nephews; Marvin Pierce and Cornelius Coleman Jr., goddaughter; Tawanda Cashwell, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at Tharp Funeral Home, Madison Heights.
