Wesley Lee Baldwin passed away as a result of complications from a lengthy illness on May 30, 2010. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 46 years Kay, his daughter and son-in-law Jessica and Max Guggenheimer, and his magical grandson Declan Wesley-Maximus Guggenheimer. He will be deeply missed by his mother-in-law Alice Phillips, and sister-in law and nephew Sally and Rob Sloan, as well as many other dear family and friends including the Baby Love Gang.
Wes was born on February 24, 1943 in Muncie, Indiana to the late Gordon and Marcella Baldwin. After earning degrees from Purdue University and Indiana University, he worked as a professor of mechanical and manufacturing engineering for his entire career. Combining his vocation with a love of travel, he lived and taught in Indiana, Mississippi, Afghanistan, Algeria, and Malaysia. In 2005 he retired from Ball State University and relocated to Lynchburg, Virginia shortly thereafter. He was a resident of the gracious Woodstock condominium community.
Wes believed in the power of bad jokes, good food and great music, and he tried never to miss an event at the Sedalia Center. He was a self-taught musician focusing mostly on the blues harp in the last 15 years and was a two-time participant in an international harmonica jam camp. Above all else, though, he adored his family and dedicated his life to their happiness and well-being.
No service is planned at this time. A private celebration of Wesley\"™s life will be scheduled for a later time.
