Wilbert Stuart Watson

Wilbert Stuart Watson, 78, of Bedford, Virginia went to be with his heavenly Father on Thursday, July 11, 2024. He was the son of the late Wilbert Stuart Watson, Sr. and Mildred Maddox Watson.

Wilbert was born on October 6, 1945, in Lynchburg, Virginia. Wil was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed boating and fishing, golfing, and spending time in his garden. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandad. He spent countless hours attending sporting events, concerts, plays, and weekly breakfasts with his special grandson, Jake, and he always looked forward to time spent with his “precious” Meri Grace. 

In addition to his loving wife, Linda Watson, he is survived by his children, Stuart Lee Watson and Robert Todd Watson (Kim); grandchildren, Stuart Jacob “Jake” Watson and Meri Grace Maddox; sister, Marie Watson Snyder (Kenneth); and sisters-in-law, Carolyn Miller and Sylvia Maddox (Wendell).

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his sister, Louise Watson Thompson.

A visitation will be held at Tharp Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, from 5:30-7:30 PM. A graveside service will be held at Spring Hill Cemetery on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at 1:00 PM with Pastor Ray Lyons officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
