William Alan Glenn

William Alan Glenn, 89, of Lynchburg, died Thursday, March 25, 2009 at Lynchburg General Hospital.  He was the husband of the late Marian E. Glenn for 61 years.  He was a resident of Westminster-Canterbury in Lynchburg.

Bill was born November 7, 1920, in Camden, New Jersey, a son of the late Samuel and Lillian Glenn.  He was a resident of Pennsauken, New Jersey for 53 years with his wife before moving to Lynchburg in December 2002.  Bill was formerly employed by Cities Service Oil Company in Camden, NJ and Houghton International in Valley Forge, PA.  He was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Army.  He was a current member of Peakland Baptist Church after having been a member and senior leader at North Baptist Church in Camden, NJ until 1971 and at First Baptist Church in Haddonfield, NJ until 2002.

Bill was a devoted and loving husband and father.  He is survived by his sons, Steven A. Glenn and wife Juanita, of Lynchburg, Brian A. Glenn of Arlington, VA, his grandchildren, Matthew A. Glenn and wife Elizabeth Martin of Hector, New York and Sarah K. Glenn of Mecklenburg, New York, and his great granddaughter Margot.  Also, he is survived by his older brother, Albert L Glenn and wife Ella of Voorhees, New Jersey and younger brother, Norman C. Glenn of Garden City, South Carolina, and a large number of nieces, nephews, and cousins, grand nieces, nephews and cousins and great grand nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends at a service at the Westminster-Canterbury Chapel at 1 pm on Saturday, April 10.  A burial service will be scheduled at the First Baptist Church of Haddonfield, New Jersey at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Peakland Baptist Church, 4108 Peakland Place, Lynchburg, VA 24503 or to First Baptist Church, 124 Kings Highway, Haddonfield, NJ 08033.
