William Anderson Royer

September 22, 1932 — March 3, 2022

William Anderson Royer, 89, of Rustburg Va, went to be with our lord and savior, the same date, 16 years after his wife, Jean, on Wednesday, March 3rd, 2022.  He was born on September 22nd, 1932, in Lynchburg Virginia to the late Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Royer.

He was raised in a large family where he had 2 brothers, Paul Royer and his wife Liz, Thurman Royer and his wife Homazelle and three sisters, Dossie and her husband Pete Elliot, June Davidson and his last surviving sibling Rheta with her husband Leon Jones of Florida. At a young age, his love for baseball landed him an offer to play with the Pittsburg Pirates, However, before he could report to training, he was drafted by the United States Army in which he nobly fought in the Korean War.

He was a plumber by trade and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He was an avid hunter and fisherman in which he shared his love for with his entire family. He was a devout Christian who loved the lord and lived his life as so. Bill and his wife were active members of Rustburg Baptist Church, in Rustburg Va. His love for the lord was matched with his unconditionally love for his wife. They were married on October 26th, 1957. She blessed him with two daughters and a lifetime of happiness.

He is survived by his daughters, Brenda Jordan (Earl) and Donna Staton (Ricky) of Rustburg Va. His grandchildren, Christopher Jordan (Ashley) of Rustburg Va, Jessica Graves (Christopher) of Amherst Va and Robert Staton (Christina) of Rustburg Va. He has 11 great grandchildren, Charlotte, Sadie, Lincoln, and Benjamin (Christopher and Ashley) Sean, Ryan, Lilly, Sophia, Emma, and Penelope (Christopher and Jessica) And Molly (Robert and Christina).

A grave side service with be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, March 6th, 2022, at Cumbie Memorial Cemetery, beside Rustburg Baptist Church. Bill asked that any contributions be made to Rustburg Baptist Church in Rustburg Virginia. From his favorite song “So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross, till my trophies at last I lay down, I will cling to that old rugged cross, and exchange it some day for a crown.”  The family thanks everyone for their condolences and prayers.
