William "Bill" Barney Duval

William Barney “Bill” Duval, Jr. 90, of Forest, VA passed away June 9, 2016 at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Gertrude Virginia Simpson Duval for 67 years and 11 months.
Bill was born in Forest April 10, 1926 the son of the late William B. Duval, Sr., and Mabel S. Duval. He was a former co-owner of Duval Auto Parts, a member of Forest Masonic Lodge #245, charter member of Forest Ruritan Club, and served on the Board of Directors for Forest Volunteer Fire Department.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Linda Maxine D. Harr and her husband William of Forest; a son, William Kevin Duval of Lynchburg; two grandchildren, Caroline Grace Harr and William Brandon Duval and his special friend, Christy Mae Coleman, all of Forest; a step granddaughter, Brooke Greene of New York N.Y. Also, one brother John W. Duval of Forest and two sisters Iola Phillips of Lynchburg and Patricia Tyree of Madison Heights, Va. also numerous nieces and nephews.
The family extends their appreciation to the staff at Runk and Pratt of Forest for their friendship and excellent care for Bill during these last 13 months.
Family and friends will be received at Tharp Funeral Home of Lynchburg, VA Sunday, June 12, 2016 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. and other times at the residence. Services will follow visitation at Tharp Funeral Home 3:30 p.m. Sunday June 12, 2016 followed by Masonic Rites. A private graveside will be held on Monday.
