William \”Œbill\” Clay Karnes
William \"Bill\" Clay Karnes, 69, of Lynchburg, died Tues., March 02, 2010. He was the loving husband of Mary Eades Karnes for 47 years.
Bill was born Dec. 22, 1940 in Bedford County, VA, a son of the late Carey Karnes and Elizabeth Wheeler Karnes. He was retired from Archer Creek Foundry where he worked in material handling. He attended Tree of Life Ministries.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Carol Layne and husband, Wendel, of Amherst, Donna K. Poe and husband, Stephen, of Lynchburg, Tina Harris and fiancé, Jeff Harder, of Lynchburg, his grandchildren, Jonathan and Jessica Martin, Krystie, Britni, and Christopher Layne, and Justin Poe, his great granddaughter, Jaelyn House, his sister, Mariah Lawrence of NC, and special friends, Monica and Larry Shuman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandchild, Jacob Harris, and his sister, Virginia Johnson.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, March 5, 2010 at Tharp Funeral Home and all other times at the home of Donna Poe. A funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Friday, March 5, 2010 at Tharp Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Dodson, Jr. and Pastor Mike Dodson officiating. Interment will be private in Tree of Life Cemetery.
