William Crawford Young, 73, of Lynchburg, VA, died Sunday, November 15, 2015. He was the devoted husband of Dr. Rebecca Brown Young.
Bill was born September 18, 1942 in Cambridge, MA, a son of the late Freeman Jesse Young and Margaret Ervin Young. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army and was retired from BWXT where he worked for many years as a Nuclear Engineer. He enjoyed sailing, was an avid reader, and will also be remembered for his sharp wit. He was a member of Grace Memorial Episcopal Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Shannon E. Young and husband John Bernecker of Austin, TX, Andrew W. Young and wife Amy Wood of Lynchburg, and Susanna M. Young of Los Angeles, CA; a brother, Robert F. Young and wife Mary DeLong of Brookline, MA, and his “four-legged” children, Lexi Lou and Maggie Mae.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Sarah “Sally” Porter.
A Celebration of Bill’s Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Grace Memorial Episcopal Church with the Rev. Catherine Montgomery officiating. A reception will follow the service at the church. Inurnment will be held privately at the Grace Episcopal Church Columbarium.
