William Cabell Rolfe

February 19, 1950 — January 9, 2019

William Cabell “Bill” Rolfe, 68, of Forest, VA left this world January 9, 2019 after working diligently for six months toward a transplant. He dedicated his life to enhancing and growing localities across the state of Virginia. Outside of his career, he devoted much of his time to his beloved family.

Born February 19, 1950 in Richmond, VA, Bill was the son of the late Eveleen Rolfe and her husband. He was the husband of Janet Rolfe for 42 years. In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Niven and Corley Stanley of Bedford and Hunter and McKinsey Moore of Richmond. As well as three grandchildren he cherished; Kennedy (8), Seneca (3), and Lincoln (3). Bill is also survived by a sister Mary Lynn Rehorst of the Netherlands.

Bill was a military veteran who proudly served in the U.S. Airforce from 1968-1972. He was a 1979 graduate of Old Dominion University where he studied Public Administration and Urban Management. Bill spent 35 years in County Administration throughout Virginia, 16 of which were dedicated to Bedford County his most rewarding tenure.

Bill had a jovial and larger than life personality that attracted people to him wherever he went. He was often known for his antics and “fish tales”. Bill loved spending time on the water, his favorite spot, no matter what size the boat. He was a community man who enjoyed coaching his daughters sports teams and cheering them on from many sidelines. And more recently enjoying his growing grandchildren. Bill was a force and loved by so many. We will miss him dearly but we know he is enjoying his sun and surf on the other side.

In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to the fund the family has set up to support the new Farmer’s Market in Glasgow, VA, a project dear to Bill, by visiting gofundme.com/sun-awning-for-the-glasgow-farmers-market.
