William Patrick Cannon, Sr., 93, of Lynchburg, Virginia departed the good earth on March 6, 2024, in Lynchburg, Virginia.
Born in Mount Vernon, Alabama on April 2, 1930, Billy was the son of Henry Alfred Cannon and Mary McCarthy Cannon. He was preceded in death by two wonderful wives, Betty Ann (Woodham) Cannon and Delores (Jamerson) Cannon, two brothers, Henry and Neal and sister, Bridget.
He is survived by sons, William Cannon and Joseph (Stephanie) Cannon; daughter, Maggie (Mary Sue Olcott) Cannon; stepdaughters, Sonya (Bert) Fitzgerald, Candy (Rhett) Prosser, Buffey (Geoff) Doster; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, dogs and cats that loved and adored him.
Bill also leaves behind a special friend, travel companion and volunteer caregiver, Marie Brown. They traveled together for many years gathering memories along the way. He was eternally grateful for the care and grace she and her family showed him in the last years of his life.
William was a longtime member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. He served as an usher there for many years. As per pre-arrangements, his remains have been cremated. His ashes will be distributed by his children to rest beside his wives in Concord, Virginia and Mount Vernon, Alabama.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Lakewalk Villas Pavilion, 35 Shoreline Dr, Lynchburg, VA 24501.
