William "Bill" Louis Clark

William “Bill” Louis Clark, 85, of Concord, VA passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2023. He was the loving husband of the late Darlene Fitzgerald Clark for over 40 years.

He was born in Halifax, VA on April 19, 1938, to the late Addie Merrit Clark and Mary McCulloch Clark. 

Throughout his life, William accomplished many great things and touched the lives of those around him. He found success as a self-employed home builder, showcasing his immense talent and craftsmanship. Notably, he played an integral role in the construction of Berean Baptist Church, which stands today as a testament to his skill and commitment to his faith.

In addition to his professional endeavors, William also dedicated himself to serving his community. For many years, he volunteered with the Concord Volunteer Fire Department, selflessly offering his time. 

William leaves behind fond memories for his son Gary Clark and wife, Martha of Lynchburg; his grandchildren, Mary Clark of Washington, D.C., and Will Clark of Virginia Beach, VA; as well as his sister, Betty Miles and husband, Eugene of Nathalie.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Bobbie Wade and brother-in-law Austin Wade.

The family will receive friends Monday, November 13th, 2023, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 14th, 2023, at the Berean Baptist of Lynchburg church located at 1400 Greenview Dr in Lynchburg, VA. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Concord Volunteer Fire Department, 12573 Richmond Highway, Concord, VA 24538.
