William Edward Kirby, 90, of Lynchburg, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 19, 2015. He was the loving husband of Mary Ann Kirby for 47 years.
Born in Kingston, PA on April 8, 1925, William was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward Joseph Kirby. He honorably served our nation in the United States Army during WWII, and retired from General Electric after a 33 year career in finance and management.
In addition to his wife, William is survived by three sons: William Edward Kirby, Jr. of Reston, Va., Edward Joseph Kirby of Highland, NY, and Peter Charles Kirby of San Diego, CA; and his grandson Edward Michael Kirby of Albany, NY. He was preceded in death by his grand-daughter Maureen Alanna Kirby.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, August 23, 2015 at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg.
A funeral Mass and interment will be conducted at Saint Ignatius Church and cemetery in Kingston, PA.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2050 Langhorne Road, Suite 201, Lynchburg, VA 24501.
