William Henry Cox, Jr., 77, of Forest, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 11, 2016. He was the husband of Barbara Julia Cox for 56 years.
Born September 11, 1938, on Long Island, N.Y., William was a son of the late William Henry Cox, Sr. and the late Isabel McCarthy Cox.
In addition to his wife, William is survived by three sons, Bill Cox and Nancy Barca, of Long Island, N.Y., Robert Cox and James Sanderson, of Washington, D.C., Todd Cox and Shelly Lane, of Lynchburg, five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by a daughter, Lori Ann Cox.
The family will receive friends at 11:00 am on Friday March 18, 2016 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at Noon, with Rev. Monsignor Michael D. McCarron officiating.
Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
