William (Bill) Hogan, 94, of Lynchburg, went Home to be with our Lord on Wednesday October 4, 2023. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy and Mary Hogan of Vinton VA, his loving wife Mary Forbes Hogan, and his son, William Wesley Hogan of Lynchburg. Bill was also preceded in death by his brothers Charles Hogan and Louis Hogan. Bill is survived by his son David Hogan and his wife, Angela of Newtown, PA; their children/families : Kyle and Kristen Hogan of Philadelphia, PA, Brittany and Brian Reutter of Newtown PA, Brooke and Evan Tsembelis of Newtown PA , and Chad Hogan of Philadelphia PA and 4 great grandchildren: Charlie Hogan, Lucy Reutter, Nico Tsembelis, and Mia Tsembelis.. In addition, Bill is survived by Wesley’s Children/families: Melissa Rhine of McKinney TX, Donnie and Jillian Hogan of Boerne TX, and Jessica Hogan of McKinney TX ; four great-grandchildren: Victoria Gaskey, Zachary Hogan, Ayla Hogan, and Stella Hogan, as well as, two great-great grandchildren: Sophia Gonzales and Athena Gonzales. Bill was a proud graduate of William Byrd High School in Vinton VA. Bill was a longtime member of Beulah Baptist Church as well as active member of the Gideons International. He was a Korean War Veteran having served in the U.S. Navy and retired from Montague Betts of Lynchburg VA after 28 years of dedicated service. Bill actively served the greater Lynchburg community through his volunteer work at the Greater Lynchburg Habitat for Humanity where he proudly worked with his friends on the “Green Team” constructing homes across the area up until the age of 91 when he finally hung up his hammer. Friends who wish to visit with the family may do so before the service starting at 1p.m. at Beulah Baptist Church. Friends and family are invited to join us in a celebration of Bill’s life and to acknowledge the graciousness of our God. The service will be conducted at Beulah Baptist Church, 528 Leesville Road, Lynchburg, Virginia 24502 in Lynchburg on Friday, October 13, 2023 , starting at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Dennis Hollandsworth officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. On a personal note: Throughout Bill’s life, friends have paved his path of life with bouquets of blessings. With gratitude, Bill’s family requests that in lieu of flowers and if one so desires, a donation in his memory may be forwarded to: The Greater Lynchburg Habitat for Humanity, 360 Alleghany Avenue, Lynchburg, Virginia 24501.
